I actually make generator 'sheds' when building for realism: concrete/steel with soild metal door Placed on a good spot on roof or better, inside a sealed area Vital gear like generators should ALWAYS be out of ANYONE'S firing arc!!

I use mod to give combat helm a light (why ddn't they do that with the base game? sigh) The powered construction light is also useful for this.ДЄnother trick is giving Settlers Miners helmets or other headgear with lights Mods add simple unpowered spotlights, I use them some places, maybe stick them on my turret towers

I also use this on very high pillars I use to make some towers or windmillsД«ecause the angled searchlight goes through such a huge arc, it illuminates an enormous area from up high The angled searchlight turret from AUTOMATRON is good for high up on walls, like maybe the Castle or Hangmans Alley Searchlight turrets at low/medium level above ground will illuminate and trigger alerts good Sort of like this, S for searchlight turret which are better around the 2nd floor height or soДЄlso of course, use lights so its easier to see You should put turrets in a mix of places, never EVER put them besides each other, if 1 gets hit, they all get hit if they are besides each otherДЄnd varied heights give varied chances of spotting an enemy However that's to SPOT an enemy, once an enemy is identified by ANY ally they will all shoot it if able, no matter the range, only line of sight counts thenД«ut another point I should have added is: I think it's PERCEPTION based? not sure though Yes, turrets have a 'limited length of sight'

I like the incendiary turret because it night it lets you SEE enemies as it sets them on fireДЄnd the Mark IV staggers enemies on a hit very eays, cheap, it works :)ДЄlso there's great mods that add turret stands, military emplacements, bubble turrets etc so you can have better placementДЄ little forethought can have great imrovement in turret effciency :) I use the girders/posts and floors from the Warehouse/banr set to make sentry and/or turret towers.

You can block a turret from hitting the wrong thing by placing a wooden board or whatever near the turret if you must, to shield things. With all turrets of course you don't want them to shoot your damagable items, such as pumps and generators (and it's why I do NOT use missile trurrets, their AOE damage is to risky, especially against friendly NPCs)Д¬rop damage is annoying but less severe than blowing a generator or another turretД«ut that is easily dealt with purely by correct placement of items in the first place When firing from above they are much more likely to hit due ot less obstructionsДЄnd you certainly want the missile turret to be VERY high to ensure it hits on the ground even on a miss, so it does some damage Get meleed (and thus destroyed easier! but even a death claw can't melee a turret if it's put on top of the Abernathy roof for example) They have less field of view and will not be much use as they simply can't hit most enemies Unless there is a SPECIFIC reason for it, I cannot understand why I keep seeing so many screenshots with the turrets on the ground: why do this?
